Birge Family – Deployment Homecoming

It’s May. To be specific, here in the United States, it’s May 7th. I say that with the knowledge that currently, so many service members are on the other side of the world, in different time zones, in different climates and vastly different environments. And I am grateful.

I am grateful for families like the Birge Family who went without a husband and a father present in the home for months; and thankfully back in March, he returned to his family, with their arms opened wide for him. I don’t take these words lightly — I know he was always there for them as he could be. But I also know firsthand the struggles that come with being military spouse with babies in the home. Having that extra set of hands is a huge blessing, and I know he would have been there in a heartbeat if he could have. But, you see, he is part of our military, and he had a greater calling, to sacrificially serve his country. And he, like so many others, has done this so well, and still let his loved ones at home know how much he misses them.
Now, this family has been amazing. As military members, as clients, as fellow military spouses…sweet Ebilene and I just clicked! I’m so thankful for not only her cheerful, supportive attitude and presence amongst other spouses and service members, but also for her huge heart and patience. Spouses like this keep the military community running on energy, love, and commitment…not just to the country, but to one another. Our service members are amazing for all that they do, but one would be amiss to miss the work of the ones they leave behind.

As this family has been super gracious about things that have been going on here on my family’s Homefront, I decided I had to thank her in one of the only ways I think I can…which is going a bit above and beyond, just as she has for so many in her company. If you have a couple minutes, check out this beautiful video, created specifically for the Birge Family to document this beautiful time for them!

Thank you for your service and your sacrifice!

Blessings Always,

Burch Family – Military Homecoming 2015

Few things are sweeter to witness than a military homecoming. I don’t really think I’m biased on that; although I am a military spouse and have gone through a couple homecomings myself, I can’t imagine anyone not being touched by the welcome home hugs, kisses, and those looks that only loved ones can give after being separated for a lengthy period of time. I was blessed enough once to have a photographer friend come to one of my homecomings, and she captured moments that are so priceless and beautiful. And real. Those pictures mean the world to me, and I’m so thankful that I was able to do the same for another military family!

I had been contacted early on by this sweet military spouse, and through the normal ups and downs of scheduling and unknowns, we thankfully still made it happen! I am so honored to have been there – it was so beautiful! Three beautiful children running to Daddy, and Mommy…waiting for the moment when she can hug and kiss! It was perfect! Long awaited, but worth it.

For all you do, Burch Family…thank you!

I’m not sure about you, but I can’t get enough of these images!

Military Event : Promotion Ceremony

I think I try to make it fairly apparent, but in case you didn’t know, we are a military family. With this comes great responsibility and an immense sense of pride knowing my husband is serving his country, and that my children and I are part of his journey.  I am always honored when other military families approach me for various events, and a promotion ceremony is no exception. As always, we had a couple bumps with timing with this military event (this is totally par for the course!) but when all was said and done, I was able to witness one of the sweetest and most touching promotion ceremonies…and tributes. To have a family so devoted to the military lifestyle, and to hear the sweet words of a grateful father, son, husband, grandson, and military member — wow. I had chills nearly the whole time!! This family has been through so much with the military lifestyle, and it started when the now-promoted military member was just a child. What a legacy.

The event was held at Maxwell Air Force Base, right beside a B2 Bomber…which is what this gentleman’s grandfather flew many years ago. Now, that in and of itself is pretty heartwarming, but to witness his grandmother’s face, going back in time…simply amazing. Truly one of my favorite captures is of this beautiful grandmother, holding an angel her grandson gave her, while staring at a collage of this rich military history. Overwhelmingly powerful and endearing.

Enjoy just a few of these special moments from this beautiful ceremony and let me know what you think! And as always, if there’s ever a military event you’d like to consider my services for, please let me know. It’s always such an honor to be a part of capturing these priceless moments!

I couldn’t have been more in the right place at the right time if I tried!!! I happened to be walking back over…and then I saw him…just STARING at his wife! It was magical! So thankful to have captured that moment and then this one, that shortly followed. His eyes were totally locked on his wife, and if you knew the sweet words he said during the ceremony, you too would have melted!
